Spanish silent of the broad drama variety. At least it was easy to read the characters, but I wouldn't call it refined acting. Then again Spain didn't really have as visionary film industry as many of the other European countries during the silent era, so Curro Vargas (1923) is one of the more interesting available outputs they had from that era.
