Cashing in on the Latin market, popular singer Carlos Gardel got to star in a series of films in the first half of the 1930s. He had charisma to make these musical films work. There is no doubt the guy had presence and makes parts of this enjoyable. Just that the overall plot wasn't all that compelling.
