First half of the film felt like an awkward commentary on scout dynamics while the second did a decent job of creating real dread and danger.

Interesting concept for a horror movie.

One Belgian reviewer suggested that Cub is just as much a scout movie as it is a horror movie. Govaerts certainly succeeds in evoking the atmosphere of a scout camp, with a keen eye for its social dynamics and rituals and by way of some captivating images of the Belgian Ardennes. As a horror movie, however, Cub is flawed, and mainly because it is not really scary. Certainly, some of the forest traps are ingenuous, but somehow it misses a real sense of threat.

Surprisingly great. This movie manages to entertain by not only being creepy and scary, but also funny, well-acted, good-looking, somewhat twisted and occasionally smart. Just great fun!

Strong production values and well acted. The script is very basic, but at least attempts to be clever at points.
