Barely remember the 1st one so i went into this fresh. The colors are gorgeous & i missed half of the opening fight just admiring the palette.story is very kungfu movie simple yet the characters get great back story and embellishments that make them larger than the story itself.Good pacing for the action as well as good setpieces.choreography was very good for a wuxia & offered balanced mix between actual movies and wild wire work...though I've never been against properly done wire fu myself.

Aside from continuing their dependence on hokey flying by hidden wire nonsense, this had many enjoyable fighting scenes. I really liked the introduction of the beautiful Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Snow Vase. Familiar faces were also welcomed. It's funny how the cute little girls were so tough. Good entertaining story of good over evil. Superior soundtrack. If you are a martial arts fan & can overlook the many liberties taken with physics, it is well worth watching and enjoyable.

The fight choreography is entertaining and well done. The acting was a little too epic for the non-native English speaking actors. This caused there to be many weird and out of place moments. Thankfully, there were enough fight scenes spread evenly throughout the film that it carried the movie forward. If you like fight sequences presented like a beautiful ballet, then you will enjoy the sequel. If not, skip it.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny is a movie that was likely doomed from the beginning. A too-late sequel to a film that is almost universally loved is going to look bad by comparison, as there's virtually no way that it would top or even match the original. It feels like a cheap knockoff, even if most of its individual elements are decent or quite solid. It's almost impossible to disconnect it from the original, as it follows most of the paths that film laid down. It is not bad.

I couldn't help but laugh during the big reveal, and in every scene between the two after that. It's not nearly as good as the first one, but still enjoyable.

Better than expected and despite having the slimmest possible connection to the original movie, there's enough to interest fans who want more in the same beautifully presented world.

This film is not as good as the first one. However there are a few good action scenes in this movie. The actors do a good job with their roles here. Overall I would recommend this film.

The film feels much cheaper and lower budget than the original and the way the story is told has a very Hollywood medieval fantasy feel to it. The film just feels more Scorpion King than Crouching Dragon. Donnie Yen does well with the action and is the most impressive of the fighters but he seems tired and uninterested during other scenes. Michelle Yeoh does well to being gravity and drama to the film and plays her character with a sense of melancholy. Jason Scott Lee isn't given much to do... [Full review]

A remake of the 2000 original that is inferior in every way. Worse still, comparing them is unavoidable because of their similarity. Yun-Fat's replacement Donnie Yen, lacks charisma. The two new younger actors are only marginally better. Instead of poetry, mystery and interesting fights we get a silly, predictable action movie that lacks substance. There's absolutely no point to this film, it doesn't add anything to the original and even ends up detracting from it.

A stylish sequel under the banner of Netflix, who are becoming a player in the movie industry. With a already familiar theme, they do their best to do CPR on a successful brand and succeeds mildly. You can't help but feel a lot of the story comes across forced, but the attraction was always going to be the Hong Kong flighting. Flying, sword-slinging, big kickin', rapid fisting spectacular! And that portion feels satisfactory along with highly polished visuals to go along with it.
