Slight and predictable "underdog" sports tale is elevated somewhat by the quirky and eccentric edge that the cast of Aussie TV stalwarts brings; it's actually the distinctive little bits of character work that make this so enjoyable, such as Clarke's underplaying of his villainous slimeball and the edgy comic and sexual tension between Molloy and Lucy. A perfect fit for a Sunday afternoon matinee and great fun on that basis.
