Having busted my ass as an unpaid PA on this film, I can't say I'm not disappointed by the end result. Through a somewhat cynical eye, Mercken recalls his past triumphs and travails in the competitive cycling world while revealing the profoundly unromantic underbelly that lies beneath its seemingly innocent facade. But his bid for authenticity goes at the expense of the inherent drama between the main characters that seems to have gotten lost somewhere during its misguided editing process.
