God awfully stupid. When a Hebrew God, in all its infinite mercy, decides to kill Kendrick's daughter off screen (before she could fit her chastity belt!), he responds by believing even more. Hilarity ensues as he and his racially stereotypical friends wow to be even more intolerably goody two-shoes than before. I appreciate the church making its own movies instead of condemning others, but holy hell; This is the closest thing you'll come to watching fundamentalist Christians masturbate. I hope.

Story on the importance of fatherhood. As a guy who recently lost his own father I must say...what an absolute crap fest. What starts out as a heavy handed message movie slowly and painfully evolves into an all out christian bukkake fest. The tale of how Jesus saves all of us (except inner city black people, because, fuck 'em, right?) emphasizes the power of the (male WASP) individual to make his own life a tad more beareable and completely ignores structural problems in society. Awfull...

"Courageous" is the best Christian-produced drama I've seen, and that's not saying it's great. Alex Kendrick has a little more money to work with here, and it shows. The performances are serviceable, the production values have increased, and the film works on a spiritual and emotional level. Religious viewer or not, the film's challenging message can't be disputed---committed fathers are sorely lacking in the modern world.

This is an excellent movie for anybody who either is a father or has a father. Great action. Good story line and excellent conclusion.

"One day I will give you away to another man, and I want that man to love God more than anything. I'd like to make an agreement with you: Trust me with your heart, and allow me to approve any man that you might think is the one." *father gives her daughter a chastity ring* ..............this movie is garbage.

Great movie. Kendrick gets better at acting and directing with every film. But the point is the message and this one is loud and clear.

It's not a shock to me that I'm not on board with this film's values. I'm frequently not in agreement with the values of commercial cinema, and frankly, while I don't endorse this film, it's less objectionable than "Top Gun: Maverick".

I want to make a movie!!!! I read that it was a social drama or message film; not at all.

These movies usually have a good moral point but the acting and production is never something to write about. *Okay

Such moralistic, Christian drivel. Sermons--especially stupid ones like this--do not make for good movies.

Films like Courageous make me think Christian movies should just take a break and figure out a way to be good. I like that the Kendrick brothers make various types of people relatable to concepts of faith, but that's about all that Courageous and their other films prove. The police side of things, which I find to be the more interesting parts of the film, are often diminished to allow for the film's message of being a good father to seep through. At least the production values are decent.

A postscript: More violent than previous Sherwood Baptist movies (Fireproof and Facing the Giants), Courageous isn't so much a movie for the whole family as it is a movie for the benefit of the whole family. Discernment should be used in deciding how young is too young to watch drug dealers shooting at and fighting with policemen. (pluggedin.com)

Religious film that talks about specific values, while also shitting on Hollywood. Good idea.

I liked this movie but it seems like it should have been a hallmark movie.

A pleasant, refreshing story, but the heavy handedness kept it from inspiring me. They talked about Jesus a lot but didn't perform much unexpected service. The running gag caught me every time; I must have laughed for five minutes.

Courageous may have had a reasonable budget, but it only entertains people who like its source of material.
