Typical teen coming of age story from a black perspective

Quite appealingly performed by a no name cast, and it presents a more optimistic view of hood life that seems almost unbelievable today, drawn directly from the writer's own experience. Schultz's direction is unselfconscious in its 'naturalism', and it serves the material well, but it's essentially just a well made slice of life that, while not without some cultural significance, falls short compared to other similar nostalgic pieces of the period.

The acting is so natural, I almost could believe what was I seeing.

This film has an interesting and good ensemble cast. The script starts off like many movies but gets better as it goes along. There are several good scenes and moments from the script. Overall I would recommend this film.

Well made and energetic, while most of the characters seemed natural they never really drew me in. As some others have noted I found this to be more "Boyz N the Hood" than "American Graffiti".

This stars the mayor who gets his dick sucked in THE WIRE. Soundtrack is an A+. Cynthia Davis is an A+. This movie gets better towards the end.

Terrible acting, and wuite boring in all other aspects too.
