I have a feeling this would be a much better movie if I did drugs. Unfortunately, I don't. The sad thing is, the premise could potentially make for a good movie. Just... not like this.

This film relies on the Deus Ex Machina far too much. It allows the human to get into Cool World, it allows the doodles to get out, it allows the human hero to not die at the end after he falls from a tall building and it allows there to be a happy ending. Deus Ex Fucking Machina over and over and over. The worst part are the doodles (the cartoon people), they want it to be adult-disney but its just sex, drugs and swearing. So not adult, more teenager.

What a weird movie... It's pretty crazy that it features Pitt, Byrne and Basinger. I can't even begin to imagine who this is made for! Not for me, apparently.

Movie would have worked as cartoon porn, allowing us to see how naughty Jessica Rabbit could have been. It didn't actually go that far, and therefore I wasn't really that interested. Has the distinction of being Brad Pitt's worst film.

Great animations and drawings, fun in concept but miserable in practice. Clunky integration of animation, miserable acting even from great actors and a a healthy dose of plain lameness

This was supposed to be the masterpiece that finally pushed Ralph Bakshi into the Hollywood spotlight after years of toiling in relative obscurity. Too bad it SUCKED. Poor story, average animation, and riddled with technical issues. Avoid it.

Everything you like about "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" only done terribly. This feels like a 45-minute film padded with cutaways of animated cartoons in diapers jacking off.

So much noise. Bakshi has adhd in the worst way and thinks everyone will enjoy it the same exact way he does. Sure an r rating would have made this better than what it is...but it would still be a mess. Byrne is the only actor not performing horribly( yes including pitt who behaves absolutely amateur here).

This movie is awful, and what's infuriating is that there's a lot of potential in a story like this. Something like Her, but with a cartoon instead of a computer. Instead, it's like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, except terrible.

Had a HELL of a lot of potential, but executed so many things so poorly. Now it'll probably always be overshadowed by Roger Rabbit, but it's still a must-watch for Bakshi fans. Just some issues: There are constantly little cartoon characters doing things all over the screen, serving no purpose but detracting from the action, and apparently not even existing in the movie space, because they're never acknowledged. The blending of background/foreground/live-action was also often awkwardly executed.

It's too bad Bakshi's current filmography ends on such a low note. There are occasional hints of workable material but it falls apart almost immediately.

Not exactly Brad Pitt's finest performance. It was a bold attempt at an adult-oriented animated film. Unfortunately, it wasn't very entertaining for this adult.

This could have been a very cool and even good movie if it would just tone down a little. It's too sporadic, and it gets really hard to watch without getting a headache. The idea is neat, but the story needs to be cleaned up and solidified. Too bad it came out the way it did. Ugh!

This is like five unfinished movies crammed into one, with no protagonist, a weird blend of aesthetics, a simple plot that gets miscommunicated until it becomes nigh-impossible to follow, and despite constant attempts to be edgy, the only coherent theme is a horrifyingly regressive statement of how dangerous women's sexuality is. There's a bunch of aesthetic elements that could work in something more coherent, but here, they're just part of the mess. Interestingly bad, but still, *bad*.

I understand that this is not the movie that Ralph Bakshi wanted to make, but this is the product that was given and it is a complete mess. The idea of a sleazy Who Framed Roger Rabbit sounds like a terrific idea, but its result is really dreadful. The animation, while energetic and interesting to look at, does not mesh at all with the live action elements. On top of that, the performances are nauseatingly bad, with Kim Basinger being the biggest culprit.

Cool World throws a small handful of visual sparks, but they aren't enough to distract from the screenplay's thin characters and scattered plot.

The 2nd half of this is better than the 1st, but it's still not good. The plot finally kicks in & Holli's actions create a great deal of narrative momentum, but it's still filled with the same kind of frantic slapstick that only very young children (who would be terrified & confused by this film's darkness & sexuality) would laugh at. What makes this so bad is that 1st half, which has Brad Pitt repeating the same warnings over & over while we wait. A hot & game Basinger deserved better material.

I guess if you're seriously into surrealism Cool World might be worth your time, but this entire movie is just a giant mind fuck! Not only is it just too perverted and off-putting, but every aspect is awful: the acting, writing, direction, it's all done terribly. Occasionally you can laugh at how bizarre and weird it is, but those moments come in between rubbing your eyes and asking yourself if you really saw what you think you saw.

should've been called Kinda Cool World. I love the homages and the sometimes (but should've been more often) relentless cartoonish style of the '90s, with a handful of laugh-out-loud moments. Unfortunately, the mix of animation and film is terribly jarring -- I don't understand the backgrounds changing from real to animation between shots. Along with this is some pretty trite acting on top of a story that I know Bakshi could've handled better (if it weren't for certain interference).

Not one of Bakshi's finest moments. It's a bit of a nonsensical mess, and the plot isn't really that interesting or cohesive. Cool World is a fun setting, but that's about all it has going for it unfortunately.

Bakshi's take on _Who Framed Roger Rabbit?_. A well-made but ridiculously unfocused fantasy that's neither cute enough for kids nor sexy enough for adults.

It has it's moments, but it could be so much better. You have to remember that this movie really didn't live up to what Ralph Bakshi wanted it to be. Franc Mancuso Jr.( the son of the producer) had the original screenplay rewritten in secret. The product as it is has some major, major plot holes, and only a few worthwhile moments. I personally really liked two scenes, both with bunnies. One where a bunny plays dice and gets scammed, and the other one where a bunny comments about holy and Sparky
