Ogens apparently had TONS of these characters to pick from but he wisely chose to focus on just four of these "performers" ("we DO work on tips..."), and what we're left with are four very interesting (and different) studies in hope, determination and self-delusion. Wonder Woman (quite beautiful) and Hulk are the standouts. Both come across as legit. talented, genuine people. Supes and Bats? Well, Supes seems harmless enough but Bats is slowly revealed to be not so much. Great character studies.

Who knew a documentary about 4 street "performers" dressed as super heroes wouldn't be boring, let alone great. Not much to say other than that it's pretty great. Superman was really fucking depressing though.

Hulk is sympathetic. Wonder woman is cute. Superman is super-cereal. Batman is a fantasist. It probably would've worked better at half the length as a Louis Theroux weird weekend.

The photographs in the film were certainly a highlight for me and were a very wise choice to include. You learned to genuinely like for people who were, let's face it, pan handlers, for the most part. Now whether you like them or not you should be at least able to sympathize for each and every one of them for their life situations as they try to remain positive despite the odds certainly being stacked against them.

I was not ready to watch 'Confessions of a Superhero'. I was convinced it would be a quirky documentary about a bunch of silly people who spend their days begging for tips dressed as their favorite heroes. I wasn't entirely wrong, but this is one dark movie. It's just as much about the heroes as it's about the broken dreams of Hollywood stardom. It's almost sad to see the hope in their eyes, knowing that it just won't work out. They try to give it a happy ending, but the damage is already done.

One of the finest movies about panhandling ever created. Bonus points for picking out people who seem to have real problems living in the world.

Instead of a documentary on the ins-&-outs of an unusual profession, the director wisely chooses 2 focus on 4 of its most interesting workers and carefully peels back the layers of their private lives 4 maximum impact, especially on the Superman and Batman actors, who both seem emotionally troubled at best. The job these struggling actors take as superheroes may be the hook, but its the very real lives behind the masks that provides the drama.

The "characters" were hard to identify with as they are basically just panhandlers - though I did like "Hulk". An OK watch, but a bit overrated.
