A horror movie that isn't scary, a comedy that isn't funny, a thriller that isn't thrilling. This one fails to commit to anything except trying to be an oddball, and that's the only thing is succeeds at. It seems like Wood has spent the better part of his career trying to prove that he's a quirky little guy, point taken.

Cringe humor trying to be cringe horror. The film's critical flaw is that Elijah Wood's character is so much every vaguely asexual, self-unaware smug musical artist I've met in Hollywood they could have cut off each of his body parts and given them each a sympathetic backstory and held a grand bloodsport where they dueled to the death until they grew a conscience and rose up against the combat overlords and I still would not give a shit.

I thought this was the opposite of Cop Car, which took a simple premise, did very little with it, but excelled just by being willing to be what it is. This starts out simple enough and then begins to twist and turn, but generally in fun ways. Ultimately they lost a bit of the plot in my opinion. Maybe I'm judging that off of the fantastic poster that plops the house into a glass of whiskey. I was looking for that theme to carry a little further rather than be replaced with a spindle.

How strange. I'm curious to see how this one grows on me in the next coming while, and to see how this movie's reception fares with audiences months down the line. It's particularly entertaining, but unfortunately not particularly great. It falls somewhere mostly in between, but with how weird and out of place it seems in the grander scheme of things, I could see this movie getting a critical reappraisal somewhere down the line. I just don't really know.

I enjoyed the third act quite a lot. It made me wish the first two acts had the same level of bizarre, violent fun. Elijah Wood picks the craziest movies to be in, and I love him for it.

A disposable but entertaining dark comedy, helped along by strong performances (particularly from Michael Smiley sporting a Gene Simmons-esque wig). While this begins as two-hander psychodrama, it takes a sharp turn into...well, not to be spoiler-y but I was kind of reminded of another recent Elijah Wood movie.

A really small thriller that sets a low bar and topples over it. It is dark, violent, and often very funny. The camera doesn't look away from the many violent acts and the pace moves along so quickly that its protagonist has little time to dwell over what is happening around him. I had a good time with this.

This feels like it did what Mandy (2018) tried to do, minus the odd art house feel. Come to Daddy is an odd film that’s kinda fun in places. Kinda makes me think of the ending to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood if it was stretched out through more of the film. Worth seeing, maybe even buying.

it mostly keeps you watching because you're wondering what the hell is going on and where this is going. In the end, it is mostly pretty odd

Vacuous, mean-spirited provocation. Martin Donovan, as always, makes the few scenes he's in worth watching. I hope he was paid handsomely for his time.

Like a Tarantino movie back when Tarantino was still innovative (i.e. pre-2009). Weird entertaining pulp that masquerades as something else--much like From Dusk til Dawn.

I didn't really care for the main character, but it is a crazy ride of a movie. While it isn't very funny, the story is somewhat enjoyable in its gore.

Elijah Wood'dan tek mekanda geçen 1 gerilim. Babasının çağırması sonucu ıssız 1 evde yanına giden oğlan, kafaların uyuşmadığını görür. Filmin, aniden kırılma noktasından sonra, durağanlaşıyor. Yönetmen, sevdiği filmlere göndermeler yapsa da, entrikanın dibine vurmuş. Az oyuncu çok iş. Filmin sonunda, herkes hakkı rahmetine. Babam sağolsun.

Top badass moment? There's so much Very Strong Language in this film I thought I’d blundered onto the stands at Millwall. That Norval isn’t the fullest train carriage around. First he fails to escape from the basement even though the entrance isn’t locked. Then when he does actually get out, he gets in the boot of the bad guy’s car, the very same boot that he’s just seen the latter get a crossbow from; like he's not going to put it back there again? No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

Elijah Wood's acting seems committed and all, but this feels like Shyamalan's The Visit remade in the most obvious ways. Crude humor never takes off -- it's just cum, shit and blood -- and the splatter footage comes when it's convenient.

Really not a fan of the writer (also wrote Greasy Strangler). It's got some ok scenes but eh.

I liked that the twist both took the movie to some wild places but also justified a really empty first act. The actual turn of events is reminiscent of Shyamalan's "The Visit" but I ended up liking how unbound this became even more.

Sets a nice ominous atmosphere, and I like watching Wood take on roles like this, but I don't think it really did enough to set itself apart from other movies like this. It's got a long build, but the final act or so isn't as satisfying as I would have liked.
