The plot has to do with an outlaw's theft of a pair of the title six-shooters and the robbery-and-killing spree that results. The owner of the guns, Steve Farrell (Randolph Scott), a salesman for the Colt company, takes off after the villain with a second pair of the six-guns. At various points during the action, Farrell is accused of complicity with Brett (Zachary Scott), the robber he's pursuing. (imdb)

Tells the story of how a big bad gun like the Colt .45 (1950) can change a coward into a cocky lunatic. Zachary Scott really channeled the psycho in him for this one, with Lloyd Bridges clearly having the hots for him. They're being chased by Randolph Scott, who does the rugged bit as you'd expect from him. I found it a rather mesmerizing western. I know of lot of the twists came a little easy, but for the most part it was a thoroughly enjoyable outlaw film that packed in a lot.

Can't be too hard on a western with such gorgeous technicolor, and though its acting standards are generally low, Randolph Scott has an endearing way about him, Zach Scott works as the villain, Ruth Roman is cute and there is even a young, golden-haired Lloyd Bridges. The writing is awful, though. Fickle women, dispensable men and savage Native Americans fulfill every stereotype, there's a retarded pro-gun moral, and the dialogue and behavior of the characters are total bullshit.
