Code 8

Passable. Code 8 adheres to too many clichés and drags too often during its 100 minute runtime, for it to be considered good. The Amells are alright but really don’t stand out to elevate the film, so you’re left with a mediocre, forgettable experience.

I like the background story and the world, while the rest is just along for the ride. I'm not mad I watched it, so that's already a good thing.

Totally mediocre and unremarkable, but presented in a shiny skin. Nice lenses, lighting, and decent vfx aren’t enough. Second viewing, can’t believe i’ve seen this much nice before.

Feels like some CW kid with powers tv show at times, with everything so clean and pretty in spite of the world building saying some people are discriminated against harshly. The ending is a bit abrupt.

It's at its core X-Men fanfiction with the serial numbers filled off, but the central performances and reasonable handling of the plot and themes keep it afloat.

Surprising decent sci-fi.

In the future, four percent of the world's population will have supernatural powers. However, these persons are not seen as heroes, but live in poverty and are carefully guarded by the government. Connor Reed is one of them, and can barely afford his mother's medical expenses. He is approached by one Garrett to earn a little extra in the criminal underworld.

A dystopian movie about how a government try to solve by brute force problems generated by the government itself. Well, written that way does not sound so much dystopian, but realistic.

Interesting idea. Horribly executed. This is highbrow entertainment for normy fratboys. This is one of those films (but feels like a Netflix show that will never end) that everyone thinks is really great and insightful but is really just the same old mindless trash we've seen for decades. It gets old so damn fast. There is potential behind the story, the first ten minutes show promise, but it never takes off. I'd almost rather watch CSI over this awful shit--basically the same fucking thing.

Bad acting, mediocre script, all comes down to a very mediocre film.

Robbie Amell is given the chance to shine and he takes advantage of that. Stephen Amell felt under utilized and a bit out of place. It was engaging albeit the ending kind of abrupt leaving a lot of loose ends for all the major characters. It worked as the powers and their place in this society were different from the normal typical film of this nature. Perhaps less is more in this case as there is talk of a television series and that has me intrigued. Fun Sci Fi film. Would recommend.
