Now this is a very bad movie. I haven't been this bored (going to the movies, at least; I think reading some Torben Grodal before going to bed might beat it) for a very long time. I guess they acted decently, but it was just so horribly hard to commit to, just plain. Without any nerve what - so - EVER. And that's simply the biggest must for a romantic film, no matter how beautiful the costumes, make-up or music.

Good. The love affair between a great designer and a greater musician. Great performances from the leads coupled with decent direction make this a nice little period romance. Especially recommended to Mikkelsen's fans.

Not like Coco Avant Chanel this movie captures Chanel's universe and put you inside. Every single detail is perfect. After financial success, Chanel builds the full artistic scene around her environment. People, costume, decorations everything in this movie must see.

Great opening with the semi-riot around The Rite of Spring, but not even Mads Mikkelsen's buttcheeks could make the rest of this interesting.

My favourite depiction of the first Rites of Spring performance.

"Ultimately, Kounen takes two hours to say not very much; one imagines him constantly barking, "more smoldering!" [but there's] a captivating, fully realizes recreation of the premiere...[of] The Rite of Spring..."

very simple story to make a movie, however it`s a tribute to `beauty`: costumes by Chanel, wonderful music of Stravinsky, `le sacre du printemps` as a ballet in the original choreography, creation of No 5, great art deco style decoration, Lalique objects... absolutely nothing that is unpleasant to the eye (when you combine all of the above with great cinematography I believe that is no surprise) The end could be better though...

"Few films begin with the argumentative lucidity and utilitarian lyricism of Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky." - Joseph Jon Lanthier

This is how I prefer my Coco Chanel: lean and mean, and with a darn sexy voice. The cinematography and the soundtrack try their best to cover up for the simple story.
