Samuel Jackson is a great actor, I like him very much. Normally I do not like American sportsmovies but with S.Jackson it is always super.

Good movie. Samual L. Jackson as the coach was a a good fit; he plays his role really good. Seeing the coach trying to help these kids was really engaging to watch. We get small snapshots of certain kids' lives through the movie. My main problem with the movie was that it never tries to center on a certain plotpoint. Certain "snapshots" felt a bit tacked on. I also think the movie was a bit too long. The last scenes felt really uninsparational. Jackson really lifted this movie.

A highly underrated performance from Samuel L. Jackson gives this film a breath of emotional strength. I'd go as far as to call it inspirational, but I don't feel the need to see it more than once.

"True-life" story about street kids from the Bronx who never swear, really killed any sort of realism for me leaving only a decent movie.

While it veers too much toward after school special at times, Jackson is great to watch and the central story is pretty nice.

Its very black movie for the white man for starters. Producers did see the marketing value and movie comes with soundtrack what probably sold some discs and there is even ultimately stupid sideplot for Ashanti. Great camerawork and acting did save the day and over 2hours long film wasn't totally a waste of time.

Familiar underdog material given a real shot of juice by Jackson's commanding and charismatic performance; you couldn't really ask for a better actor to play the hardass with a heart of gold and he is complemented by a fine line-up in his team; Spencer is also great as a mamma even more fierce and commanding than Jackson! Potentially soapy and melodramatic elements of the story are nicely underplayed and make this one of the more genuinely involving (and quietly inspirational) sports sagas.

An inspiring high-school sports drama carried by loveable characters, a moving storyline, and a strong lead performance by Jackson. The sports film cliches are definitely here, but aren't gregarious enough to make me not cry countless tears at the emotional peaks in the story, no matter how predictable. Some of the players' personal side-plots feel a bit out of place (Kenyon and Kyra's drama comes to mind) but others fit more seamlessly. In sum, a wonderful story, if not a ground-breaking film.

Bunch of hot guys. Funny, dramatic. Good for a casual watch. Was not terribly impressed with the performances of some cast members or with a lot of the stilted dialogue. It just didn't sound right. Cruz's speech towards the end left me with second-hand embarrassment. But I did enjoy a lot of it. Think 'Remember the Titans' but cornier with a weaker story arc.

It's all perfectly predictable (a group shot of the team walking in slo-mo toward the camera at the state tournament: you could bank on it), but there are good lessons here, engagingly taught, for those who need them.

I am a fan of Samuel Jackson, and he comes through as usual with a great performance as the high school coach. The rest of the cast is so-so. Movie is over two hours, which it does not need to be. It is a good story, and if you like sports and rap music you might find a liking to it.

Suprised how much i enjoyed it. Weak acting from some of the kids, although i think Gonzalez is going to be something as soon as he lands a lead role. At least watch this to see him in what will be referred to later as one of his early roles. Also, addition of Ashanti made me vomit a little in my mouth.
