I don't understand all these people who keep saying that Michael Bay's the Island is a rip-off of Clonus. The movies are TOTALLY different, and I have proof gathered from numerous accredited sites such as youtube. 1. One takes place in a desert, the other on an island. 2. One was made a long time ago, the other made recently. 3. One is called Clonus, the other is called the Island. Case CLOSED. Or should I say, case CLONUS.

There's a very clever idea here that's way ahead of its time, as evidenced by both Michael Bay and Kazuo Ishiguro. Sure, the execution is a bit like a clone that's *almost* human but not quite, so it can usually talk and walk in a straight line but starts babbling nonsense or falls over more than it should. But still, there are worse 70s conspiracy thrillers out there.

The fact that Michael Bay had this premise and the budget to make it shine, and that he managed to make a film WORSE than The Clonus Horror, makes him a terrible person.

This isn't actually that bad? With a bigger budget, it could have been decent. Oh wait, that's called "The Island," and it wasn't.

Clonus: What happens when someone stumbles upon a good idea, but is too inept to know what to do with it.

Sadly, I found this movie better tha The Island. On the other hand, Scarlett Johansson at least has nose.

The premise is interesting, but that's as far as it goes. The effects are pretty bad. MST3K took shots at the movie, and I'd recommend watching it through them.

Typical bad Sci-Fi. Dick Sergeant's dialogue is completely out-of-place exposition. Those who interact with him are robotic. If in doubt, insert some generic "sci-fi noises". Let's make sure our clueless protagonists are generic idiots.

Good ideas, inept execution. I have the feeling that if Clonus and The Island had a baby, it would be a very good sci-fi movie. Unfortunately, this is too unrefined, and The Island is too soulless.

This score is for the MST3K version, which is obviously more watchable than the original. Yes, it's horrible, but it so far has actually been the best film I've seen on Mystery Science Theatre. Anyone else have a strange desire to watch Biography after seeing this?

This movie idea is great, but the way it was presented is awful. Boring characters, terrible scripting and directing. Ultimately a trainwreck in a movie. The ending is rather shocking, however. Seen on MST3K, with the added comedy value this film is granted a much better score of 86.

A watchable mix of horror and conspiracy thriller from the late '70s mini-glut of clone movies.

As a movie I give it 15, but I'd give The Mystery Science Theater commentary 85.

The movie Dreamworks ripped off when they made "The Island". At least Dreamworks improved on it because this movie is terrible from beginning to end. The acting is the real horror here.

Not that bad of a film. Really. Probably better than all the rest of the stuff that MST3k has lampooned.
