6 feet 2" and all of it Dynamite? Well after subtracting 4" of pusher-stompin' heels and 6" of FBI-issue 'fro...we have only approximately 5 feel 4" of Dynamite, though that is more than sufficient to kick a drug-lord's ass up and down an inner-city junkyard. What I learned from this movie: There are not nearly enough characters in film named Melvin.

Formulaic but fun blaxploitation flick about a sassy, kung fu fighting lady special agent going up against drug pushers in the hood. Lots of funky tunes, and Cleopatra wears a bewildering assortment of freaky outfits, most of them including furry capes, weird hats and accessories dripping with feathers and beads. The main villain is named Mommy, and there are at least a half dozen scenes of various men watching Cleo walking away and commenting on how fine her ass is. Quality stuff.

Strong start, then it gets slow again. After about 30 mins, an explosion of different kinds of awesomeness happens in a short amount of time. Very asskickin'. Then slows down a bit, but has a pretty fun ending. Sheeeitt

Has some lulls but also some spectacular and unforgettable moments. Doodlebug is a riot and the finale is all kinds of great fun!

Cheesy Blaxploitation, but not cheesy enough to be fun on that basis. It has interesting moments and fun moments, but stuff like Shelly Winters' performance just makes me shake my head. I can't tell if she's trying too hard or not trying at all, but everything with the villains feels so out of sync.

It's just silly enough to remain entertaining. I thought Cleopatra was a decent character; she's smart, elegant, dangerous and has the fashion sense of a blind snapping turtle. Some of the dialogue was amusing too.

Absolutely hilarious! A wonderfully energetic put-on, with many lol moments throughout (something which I don't do very often). Among the comedy classics are the car chase, the shakedown of Snake and the hubcap kid. Also had to love the junkyard finale. Dobson is great, with that cool smile and playful way, and Winters was a lot of fun too. The atmosphere and style here had to serve as inspiration for Charlie's Angels. Plus it has Florida and Earl in it (and Don Cornelius actually grins!).

Not shaking up blaxploitation formula in terms of story or filmmaking, but if you enjoy the mood and vibe and musical funk and hot black chicks of the genre you’ll probably enjoy it. Only problems are lack of nudity and the villain largely being on the backfoot and afraid of Cleopatra from the start; not ideal for tension or drama. Larger budget than typical 70s blaxploitation flick helps; LA River basin chase / shootout for example probably wouldn’t have been possible on a six figure budget.

Uninspired, bland and instantly forgettable. Takes itself too seriously. The main lead is very unlikeable and expressionless. The villains felt way over-the-top compared to the overall atmosphere of the film, a comical Bond villain-esque sort of a feel. Tedious to go through and generally not fun.

Very fun and rewatchable blaxploitation with good action scenes. I actually found this more engaging than Foxy Brown though Pam Grier has more self-assured presence than Tamara Dobson, which isn't a knock on Dobson since she holds her own. Cheesy but fun villains. Fav scene: car chase through the water.

Shelly Winters as the insane lesbian is almost enough to push this over the top but eh too much of a slog to get thru. Soundtrack wasn't even that good either

Easier to watch than Super Fly, but it also makes that film feel layered and interesting. This is pretty much a cartoon, an entertaining one, but simplistic. Shelley Winters as an evil old lesbian is bizarre, but undoes any potential Feminist discourse, which isn't really there anyway. The constant cutting to the guy who says "that's right!" is funny, though. It's cute.
