Class of 1999 II: The Substitute

One good Patrick deserves another Kilpatrick. The original is pretty downbeat although worth seeing for a pudgy Michael J. Fox. People are at least having fun in this. This is somehow the quintessential Stacy Keach hair movie despite the fact that he stars in Body Bags in which he gets a hair transplant from hell.

Direct-to-video sequel which is inferior to the original in every respect. The plot twist at the end is a strong redeeming quality. The social commentary may work better in written form. Also - obvious 35-40 year-old actors playing kids in school. Ugh.

Weirdly enough I enjoyed this just as much as the first film. I also thought that the obvious twist was pretty fun.

Inferior sequel to the movie that wasn't any good either. But then again, it's not as bad as straight-to-video sequels from the 90's usually are. It was amusing for a moment or two.

The robotic Mitchell is well used (and gets to use both of his facial expressions) but this obvious, routine sequel hasn't much to offer that you haven't seen before -- a lot of times before.
