Oh it seems so nostalgic now.. I used to be very thrilled about watching it as a little girl, and I'm happy to say it is still quite exiting. How can I best describe it's impact? Your heart being ripped open and then shut close in a bang.

Pretty green compared to Folman's later work. The cast is uneven and often, the kids don't really speak anything like kids - especially the wiseguy shit early on and the lovey-dovey conclusion. I still found many bits of dialogue along the way fresh and amusing. There is a certain savvy quirkiness that makes this worthwhile for all its flaws.

It seems, that even though I was running from Israeli culture my whole life, I've never really managed to escape.

Clara was interesting, couldn't have given less of a damn about anyone else. Wink-nudge proxies for concepts from an alien culture, maybe, the allusory freight giving me the go-by? [Shrug] A "Say Anything" ending closes a bleary "Repo Man" jangle -- but everything's strained through a rancidity that coats the palate like cheap doughnut grease. Perhaps 'nidorous' is the mot juste here... Blump's Squeezable Bacon. Almost kooky enough to rate a watch, but finally loathsome. Going for Listerine now.
