O imperador e o rouxinol estreava há 75 anos na Checoslováquia. Não vou mentir, estou em dívida com o Trnka, assisti muito pouco dele, a pouca acessibilidade aos filmes dele talvez seja uma boa desculpa, esse mesmo só encontrei essa cópia americana, nada contra o Karloff, mas preferia um sentimento mais tcheco. É uma boa rendição à fábula que sempre achei meio tolinha, mas a poética do stop motion faz todo o filme. YouTube ( https://youtu.be/GSOF3puwpNU )

A little static for the puppets to come alive, but Jirí Trnka does bring the magic from the overall presentation of the age old tale of The Emperor’s Nightingale. Feature length stop-motion or animation films at all were a rarity in those days, so it always feels special when one comes across one.

Nice little fable, I suppose, but I'm not a fan of any of this film's style. From the lifeless creepy puppets to the fully narrated story to the trite moral. There's certainly talent on display, but I find it dull and irritating.
