Hoo boy, this is a wild one: a complex historical tale bafflingly told as an old-fashioned pirate adventure. It positions Christopher Columbus as a swashbuckling hero, visionary genius, and wholesome family man...and then kinda sorta points to things that maybe didn't turn out so well for others. (A shot of a rat scurrying to shore typifies its elliptical treatment of unplesantness.) Also featuring disinterested King Tom Selleck and late-career Brando playing Torquemada as only he can.
