Görücü usulü. Güzeller güzeli köylü güzeli Jagna, köyün en zengin ağasına evlendirilmek zorunda kalır. Oysa ağanın yakışıklı evli oğluna aşıktır. Kartpostal görsellerin olduğu, animasyon tekniğin yağlı boya ile harika uyumu ile gözlerimiz bayram ediyor. Senenin en iyi işi diyebiliriz. Romeo ve Juliet öyküsü, Karamazov Kardeşler hikayesine dönüşüyor. Filmin sonunda, vurun kahpeye. İki gönül 1 araya gelince samanlık yanar.

A unique experience (even if you've already seen Loving Vincent) and probably a masterpiece. If we were to (ever so unfairly I hasten to add) remove the achingly handsome, often striking visuals created with incredible camerawork and oil-based rotoscoping as well as the spellbinding music by L.U.C. from the equation, the to me unfamiliar but uniformly great cast and the dark (hi)story they enact would alone certainly be more than enough to make it a classic. See it on the biggest screen you can.

Small town big hell stuff. It can't really make whole sense of its story, something's off in translation, but the animation is often gorgeous, and by the time the end comes it gives you a good enough reason for this not to be a live action feature. One of the best film scores of the year, too.

Audio-visual feast, music score and painted scenes that resemble famous Polish paintings bring joy to the heart. Animation adds a bit of chaos, disturbance so that the scenes automatically feel a bit of rushed. Unfortunately, creators added to that effect by doing quick cuts and chaotic camera work. Movie would be much greater with more calm and long scenes. On top of that, the story feels rushed and chaotically presented at times. Overall a great flick though.

Absolutely beautiful, but at times so bleak that it's very difficult to enjoy. It's hard to give a perfect score to a movie that, instead of a "wow, i love it!" feeling, leaves you with a sense of disgust towards humanity.
