Chinnamul

Saw a bleached version with barely readable subtitles, so it was a hard view. It was also very rooted in very simple production style, though refreshingly not rooted in music. More of a social message to deliver, which is a result of Satyajit Ray getting his first movie credit as a writer. Chinnamul (1950) is not a great watch by any means. Even if trying one'd best looking past the flawed print that's readily available. It's a clumsy production which only on rare occasions shows some promise.
