K Kurosawa is so fucking good he made a brutal little film about when we get mad and kinda fucked up about a damn sound we can't get out of our ears -- and minds. Or was it another take on late capitalism contemporary malaise through the story of a mid-life man going existentially sick because he can't decide between being a happy gastronomy teacher or the worn out chef of a fancy french restaurant? Chair scene is dope. Wish he would go on with this and turn it into a 120min masterpiece.

Horror no Halloween dia 2: Horror commenos de 90 minutos. Vi gente comparando com Akerman e Deren, o que obviamente não concordo porque não perpassam misoginia como o média do Kurosawa demonstra, o que me lembrou mesmo foi o Dillinger è morto do Marco Ferreri, é como se fosse a alienação do filme do italiano (que considero mesmo um duplo machista da Jeanne Dielman) transposta para o horror século XXI como só o Kurosawa poderia fazer. YTS.

45 minutes is fine because there's no wasted space, but I would have taken another 20-30 and I don't think it would have hurt it. It's vague, not spelling out plot details or what it means. Lot to think about. Not scary per se, but there's a thick, ominous atmosphere. When shit happens it's like, "daaaamn." Shot well, not a wasted shot. The audio mixing deserves respect, how he puts certain noises higher in the mix (or removes sound) is wonderful, all contributing to the ambiguous storytelling.
