The most forgettable of the "Child's Play" sequels of my youth. On re-watch, it's amazing just how much this movie smells like the rushed out cash-grab sequel trash that it is. Again, while I appreciate Don Mancini's attempts at continuing "Chucky"/"Andy's" stories, this is just full of ill-fitting/half-baked ideas, which sadly is kind of what starts to dominate the series going forward. Worst of the series? Probably not, but unless you're waiting for the series' comedic turn, just stop here.

Wtf is this. The second one was built so well and ebbed and flowed and hit its peak at the right time. This one is just a slog to get thru. Visually uninteresting. No iconic characters. Smh

Yeah, basically irredeemable. It's kind of fascinating how annoying this got so fast. Chucky wasn't threatening nor very fun, and the premise is interesting but executed so horribly and so cliche-ridden. Not the third installment I was hoping for.

I thought the barber was supposed to shave people's heads. Why did he give Andy a Vanilla Ice flattop? In terms of horror franchise sequels, this is actually decent. It's a step down from the previous two, and the military school felt like Full Metal Jacket but with kids. My biggest complaint, though, is that the amusement park was a lot of fun, and I wish they got there sooner in the film. But, like, this was a perfectly fine third addition to this franchise.

Supposedly rushed into production by Universal, C.P 3 definitely feels like a hasty cut and paste of half formed ideas. The change of setting (to a military school) wasn't necessarily a bad idea, but it was poorly executed. The direction is amateurish and plays like a t.v movie with an overuse of generic establishing shots and rudimentary framing devices. There is also zero suspense and barely any laughs. No wonder it killed the franchise until the 1998 reboot.

Budget limitations really did kill this. It's so weird it starts out as an Aliens-like corporate satire, but rapidly abandons that for a flat take on military school. And some stuff doesn't even make any sense, such as Chuck choosing a new target. Funhouse-ish "climax" -- actually less than ten minutes lol -- feels derivative, but it works. Guess I've never seen such a bored last shot in a slasher, though.

Odd choice for a setting, as it was overdone in other movie genres, and uninteresting. Chucky was beyond useless and incompetent in this one, way more than usual. The kills and the characters were less interesting than the previous 2

A dull and dreary slog - admittedly the Chucky puppet work is well done, but like the previous entry, the film does itself no favours by showing Chucky too much, too often rather than evoking him as an abstract threat; the more you see of him, the more absurd he seems - HE IS JUST A DOLL!! Freddy Krueger-style wisecracks are more irritating than funny; the human cast are a dull and bland group this time around; the military school setting brings nothing fresh to the premise.

It has all the framework for a potential new take and feel for the franchise, aging Andy up, a non-suburban setting, a new target to body swap with. The piece are there for something fresh while still keeping what worked in 2. But nothing is explored enough. It's a fast 90 minutes, but I can't pin down how that filled up 90 whole minutes. It doesn't feel like enough story, even when the boot camp setting is very interesting and had some fun space for Chucky to play in. Kill count is SO LOW

It's been eight years since Andy Barclay (Justin Whalin) was bullied by the murderous doll Chucky. In order not to be trapped in the doll's body forever, Chucky has to trade his soul with someone else. And he does that with Andy. Andy is now 16 years old and is doing his best to learn to live with the horrible experience of his past. Because everyone finds him difficult, he is sent to the Kent Military School, where he hopes to find peace.

Child's Play 3 is a step down. Although it again is saved by a pretty awesome ending and a wonderful voice performance from Brad Dourif. For better or worse it's not the worst the series has to offer.

When I was a kid there was a TV channel that often ran Child's Play marathons. The first and second films scared me when I was 7, and they get some bonus points for causing childhood nightmares. The third one was stupid enough that even as a child it seemed more like an unintentional comedy.

The harrowing coming of age story of Jimmy Olsen before he came to Metropolis. How fighting a killer doll made Jimmy Olsen the best photo journalist in all of Metropolis... okay I made all that up, but it's still a better story than this fucking disaster. Fuck you Don Mancini!

Chucky was such in an integral part of my childhood nightmares that I simply can't rank any of these films at the lowest score. As easily scared by Chucky as I was, the third of the original three films had the least impact.

Chucky tracks down a teenage Andy in military school. All of the military nonsense hurts this one. You already have a pretty awesome bad guy, why do you need a pissant jarhead wannabe to take up Chucky's screentime? Chucky is funnier in this one, and the haunted house as the end set piece works well.

With this, Chucky strengthens his position as a Froggy Gremlin for the '90s. The military school offers a reasonably novel setting, a carnival spookhouse ride provides an excellent locale for the climactic fright scenes, and the film is laced with dark humor throughout.

This needless third installment is pretty much a rerun of all that's gone before, but still, Wil Wheaton lookalike Whalen gives a good performance and there's a reasonably tense climax set in an amusement park funhouse.

OK, moving the series to a military academy makes it a little lame, but we get the same Chucky formula: one-liners and killing, followed by more one-liners and killing. Still, the low point in the series.
