Children of God

Less polemical that it could have been, this love story between a white guy and black guy in the Bahamas works best when it focuses on characters, rather than politics. Still, there are some powerful dramatic moments when a highly religious woman spews anti-gay religious rants all while her hypocritical & chauvinist husband screws young dudes on the side. The ending is very disappointing though.

A really strong piece of filmmaking. A story contrasting a trio of gay characters and their various struggles with that part of their identity, set against the backdrop of religion and politics. The performances are excellent and the film does a very good job of fleshing out all the characters.
