A surprisingly enjoyable, post-"Scream"(1996), late 90's slasher. While the movie should probably be seen just for the line: "hymen holocaust", referring to the police sanctioned, high school wide, teenage orgy, the movie does just enough to tweak the standard slasher formula to make for an entertaining watch for forgiving genre fans.

Beyond the massive, gaping plot hole at its core- which is never addressed in the slightest despite how easily it could've been- and a few other things that don't quite add up, this is a serviceable slasher that offers decently explored feminist themes & a good dose of comedy that hits more often than it misses. It can't be understated how much Brittany Murphy impacts the enjoyability here, though. She's the clear star & turns in a very solid lead performance. Not great, not awful, worth seeing.

A cheap knock off of Scream Could possibly be a good idea if it wasn't trying so hard and wasn't so full of cliches I know this isn’t the only movie to try and cash in on a popular movie But they could maybe be a little less obvious

Was this supposed to be a spoof of slasher movies? The final act is beyond silly.

I think I caught an edited version, or the R-rated version is some kind of joke. Hopefully they filmed some gore for this movie, because aside from an interesting premise (a reversal on slasher moral mandates) it doesn't have much going for it.

Tries to be witty and meta in the vein of Scream, but fails miserably and utterly wastes whatever tiny fragment of potential it has. The story is boring, the characters are dipshits, the whole film is just obnoxious. Except for Michael Biehn, of course. He's a pretty cool guy.

I love how he took the time to put on the wig and dress before going after them at the end.

Where so many are trying so hard to be cool this one just flips the tropes with such casual ease and a darkly humorous streak. Iconic performance by Murphy. She’s such a star. a haunting dream like suburban misanthropy that lingers around every frame. examines how sexual trauma is passed thru generations. Everyone is on the crimes. Uses sex and virginity to gnaw at the tensions in suburban America

Underrated gem. Probably the best of the post scream meta slashers. Flipping it to be solely focused on virginity and how sexuality is viewed in America. About trauma, but before it was cliched and the sole focus of the genre.

ice slasher that circumvents the conventions by making virgins the victims. Which leads to a fun scenario of all teenagers going to party to pop their cherry to be taken of the perps radar. Brittany Murphy is always a joy to watch. And it has a well developed background story.

Enjoyable mostly because it feel like an 80s goofy slasher.

Decent entry into the 90s style of slasher flick. Fairly well made and at least has the balls to make it R rated. Helps having some decent actor in the mix giving pretty good performances.

SO underrated, by far the greatest and weirdest of the post-Scream slashers (tbh probably the only one worth watching). Love the dreamy 90s suburbia vibes, the earnest and dorky teens, the nasty streak of humour and Brittany Murphy loveably nutty and twitchy as always (rip baby girl). Why is this hated again?

It's about as generic a "post Scream teen slasher" as you can get. Some early promise, but ultimately fails on every level. Highlights include the credits rolling downwards, like a waterfall... get it??

Interesting reversal on the standard horror movie trope of sexually promiscuous teens getting hatcheted to death. Ultimately, the film gets pretty damn silly, but not before a few good laughs.

Strictly middle-of-the-road horror fare here. It's a second-tier slasher that gets lost in the shuffle among the Screams and the I Know What You Did Last Summers. Not a bad movie, just all-too-common with not enough twist to have someone stand up and say it's original.

A horrid leftover from the Scream era of horror films. It tries too hard to be trendy.
