The Bakers are back...BIG time! Only this time, they're going toe-to-toe against another clan in the ultimate inter-family battle. Bigger scale, more laughs, ramped-up action - and lots of heart - are the hallmarks of the Baker's new adventure. (20th Century Fox)

Don't believe everything you read. Although this sequel lacks philosophic depth in dealing with real-life family issues, and though its story is mostly a rip-off of John Candy's The Great Outdoors, it isn't as bad as it's being labeled. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say it measures up to the first remake. For some, that's not saying much. But for those who enjoy their pro-family messages wrapped in warm-hearted Hallmark moments, the movie delivers. (pluggedin.com)

I think the softie in me got swindled – my memories of Part 1 have faded to the point where I’m not sure if this is objectively any better, but it certainly seems to play better: some genuinely amusing moments mesh in a genially sweet way with the more sentimental ones, and even though I think I liked this combination more when it was called “Father Of The Bride”, this is still solid and breezy family entertainment, with Levy and Martin’s simmering rivalry an effective plot clothesline.

When a family comedy like this doesn't even get on my "ok" list it's bad...

Levy and Martin are two men that should know better, but clearly don't.

Steve Martin cheaps with a sequel of a family flick. He's best when he can improvise. Here he succeeded once. The story itself was just bull.

Wow, I can't believe this one did so bad. It's not a great movie but its waaaaaay better than the first. It has that 90's/80's camp movie feel, where the rival camp is way better at everything and there's a big camp competition at the end. I didn't mind it, and I'd say it's an excellent family film. I even teared up near the end.

Good family movie. Would have been better without Duff though. She sucks and isn't attractive, but seeing as her career won't last much longer it doesn't matter much.
Kinda thing Steve Martin should be doing more of

The first was already very bad. Are guys who were funny, but today are boring, as Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy.

Why doesn't fox spend a few million to send out thugs to kick parents in their nethers rather than tormenting them with this drivel

With all the elements of a hilarious comedy (lake cabin in disrepair, dangerously pregnant daughter, long-standing family rivalry coupled with family competition/picnic) PLUS the remarkable acting talents of the likes of Hilary Duff and Carmen Electra...how can you go wrong? Oh.

An unfunny, clunky, awkward mess of a sequel, where none of the talented actors involved (Martin, Levy, Hunt, and the delightful Alyson Stoner) get anything memorable to do (save for a couple Hunt ad-libs and a scene where Martin shows Levy "The Move").
