Cheaper by the Dozen

Cozy big family portrait with Clifton Webb & Myrna Loy as parents to a dozen children, but it's one that struggled to grip me beyond just being pleasant.

Unlikable characters face small problems. Hilariously out of place ending!

I was surprised to find that this is a pretty competent film, it seems that the name has been heavily tarnished by a couple of poor modern remakes. It relies heavily on charm for entertainment and for the mostpart it works. Some of the more stupid moments spoil it a little, but generally it remains relatively simple, lighthearted family fun with plenty of nostalgia. By orientating itself around a heavily functional family, it provides a more mature viewing than its modern counterparts.

Sweet and charming. It's a real shame that the godawful remakes have completely eclipsed this film in the public eye.
