The second to last Charlie Chan movie featuring Warner Oland, and this time on a stop-over in New York where his snooping son gets caught at a murder scene. Another good entry in the series. More for a well paced mystery then for any gimmicks. Keye Luke got a solid part here. A bit of a clutz as usual, but his stumbling proves useful. Not to mention Number One Son saving his Number One Pa!

Another Warner Oland highlight, this one is just crazy enough to work. Keye Luke gets some good bits without coming across as too silly, though it's obvious that Chan is getting close to making Number One Son yet another corpse in this film. This is the fourth Chan I've watched with Harold Huber in it, and it's funny because his turns as a New York and Parisian detective are silly and delightful, but as a Brazilian one he's smart and clever. Not the usual stereotyping. Anyway, good flick.
