Charlie Chan in Shanghai

"Charlie Chan in Shanghai" takes Chan to what must be the European section of Shanghai. It is what you expect from a Charlie Chan movie but not much more.

Definitely one of the better Orland entries, with great repartee between Chan and Number One Son. There's an excellent sequence where both are kidnapped separately and must escape from a house full of killers; it's a shame that none of the rest of the movie equals that level of thrills. Still, a good time all around.

This time Charlie Chan is in Shanghai where a large number of white people are. The mystery was okay, but at times it felt like there was no good guys at all there and that's why one of the great joys of this episode in the series was the scenes involving father & son Chan (Warner Oland & Keye Luke) always cracking jokes and doing something for a smile!
