If someone says this is their favourite movie congrats you've found the most boring person alive. The musical score is incredible, it's so good I knew about Chariots of Fire when I was a toddler and I had no concept of space and time or movies and stuff. These runners would probably be placing in last place in today's games lol

The movie that'll make you go: "ooh, so that's where that music is from" and "is that Ian Holm sporting a moustache ?"... but probably just the first one.

A pretty good film with no exceptional features, and thus unworthy, as so many are, of its Best Picture statue.

Exquisitely-acted character study of two men whose athletic achievements are extensions of their souls. The Oscar-winning screenplay weaves together the lives of two very different men who find common expression in sport. Hudson, in his first time as director, breathes air into what might have been a stuffier period piece by melding the artistic cinematography of Watkin with forward-thinking editing from Rawlings to get into the minds and hearts of the subjects. Under-appreciated gem.

Desperately wants to be inspiring and profound, but only succeeds in being mildly entertaining and sporadically eloquent. The fact most of the actors are unconvincing as athletes doesn't help, but otherwise performances are competent enough. The iconic score certainly adds to the atmosphere, although it also contributes to the melodramatic feel.

Nice and harmless, although not an awful lot happens. Also, everyone runs like a mong. Apparently it's period detail based on archive footage, but even still, I found myself smirking a bit inappropriately. Iconic music though.

It's THAT soundtrack, which helps. An interesting tale, albeit without much of an arc. They try to run fast, mostly they do. They have a go at examining the prejudices of the day.

I liked watching this film for the scenes set in my home country (Scotland). Call me biased but there you go! its regarded as a bit of a classic film and I wanted to see what its like. The music from Vangelis is certainly very recognisable, without a doubt. Its a good film about perseverance, though im not sure quite how strong it is as a moral tale but its a good watch never the less, with some decent performances, I think its worth seeing certainly, so yes I'd recommend it.

Very mid and even a bit ridiculous sometimes. The actors are not convincing as athletes. Nobody falls onto the ground on the 400m, gets back, and wins. That hasn't happened in the history of the sport and will not happen unless they let formula 1 cars compete against runners. When you fall, you're out. Undeserving of the accolades. But Vangelis is a beast.

Fransa'da Olimpiyatlara katılan atletlerin hikayesini izliyoruz. Çok sıkıcı ilerlediğini herkes hemfikir. Ama Hristiyan ve Yahudi sempatizanlığı. Filmi yarıda bırakasım geldi. Oyuncular da çok vasat. Replikler facia. Oscar adaylarına bakınca Indiana Jones ve Reds var. Bugüne kadar izlediğim en kötü Oscar filmi. Ağır çekim bağımlılığı. Filmin sonunda, win win win. Ben ne ısmarladım? En pahalı yemeği. Avam avam takılıyoruz.

This was fairly early for an inspirational sports movie, so a lot of the cliches here probably weren't cliches yet, but from a 2022 lens this felt obnoxiously sentimental and cliched. It is a technically fine film but I found myself rolling my eyes way more often than smiling, and I didn't find the characters or plot terribly compelling. The handling of the antisemitism is clumsy and obvious. It's fine, but I was semi-bored for most of it and there was not a single surprise with any element.

This movie seemed to be missing something. There was no conflict or unexpected twists, just scenes about some young men who went to the Olympics about 100 years ago, set to incongruous music.

"A quality like the old BBC serials" or something like that, wrote Halliwell. Yes. Very correct, a bit feely, a bit smart, seemingly more profound than it is, very short of overwhelming and complete, less than intense, nearly always admirable.

First, you have to pretend that Brits could actually be considered athletes. After you manage this feat, enjoy the several epic scenes intermixed with mediocrity that make Chariots of Fire worth the watch. Vangelis always lights my fire.

That widely recognised title theme is just one of the many pieces of pure cheese the film's soundtrack has in store, a soundtrack so intrusive, annoying and inappropriate that it could almost single handedly ruin the movie if it wanted - it's hard to believe Vangelis would compose the great Blade Runner soundtrack just a year later. There isn't a whole lot to ruin though, just a fairly dull, standard film with zero dramatic tension even in the film's climax and a grating sentimentality.

Perfect time to watch this movie is during the Olympics. A whole different era when athletes are Cambridge students, are philosophers and dont hold cell phones during the opening ceremony... First half is a bit dull, but the Olympics part is great to watch

Ironically, for a movie about running, it's pretty slow. Running is one of my hobbies, so I was really interested in this one. The biggest problem for me is that the main characters weren't interesting at all. The scenes in which they actually run are the best parts of the movie, mainly because of the music by Vangelis. Not a bad film, but I can't say it's good either.

A thrilling, poignant drama. Occasionally heavy-handed in the use of slow motion and the reliance upon speech-making dialogue, but otherwise engrossing, impressively acted, and impeccably costumed and designed to convey the sense of the period.

Emtertaining film with a great deal of British heritage nostalgia. Ye gode ould tymes... I, however, don't think that the score done by Vangelis contributes much to the film, quite the contrary.

An excellent example of the 'inspirational film' whose goal isn't really to inspire but to give the emotional satisfaction of inspiration. It's not great cinema but the editing, music and story elements are combined perfectly to move the audience and make you cheer. I feel a bit dirty for enjoying it but I did nonetheless.

Artful, cohesive handling of subtle themes. Lush visuals and uplifting tone. In addition, this is possibly the most eloquent representation of a religious belief system ever achieved by Hollywood, while also the best treatment of the concept of "purity" ever inculcated to film. God, I wish I was religious.
