It is what it is. It's a pretty standard movie for the telling of this historic event. The acting is solid though never outstanding, and though the set design is solid, some of the direction lacks believability. Not my favorite film in a while, but it's not bad.

I remember hearing people talk about this as a child but I was far too young to understand That said I felt like they did a good job presenting the movie without showing bias towards the Kennedy family As a person though I feel Ted Kennedy was a gutless coward

OKish: Good main performances. Competently written, acted & shot Chappa events always stunk & if even Hollywood produces this soft version; truth likely = far worse. It may bring some eyes 2 OLD controversy. Yet, vanilla non-controversial film on V influential & murky real event Not sure if no Ted in WH = + or - ? But 4 sure this ? no 72,76,80 Noms. Suppose today, horrifically, a politician could even bluff & bluster thru it & stay serious contender? | Poor Mary-Jo!

There's not really enough meat here for a fully fledged theatrical film but this is still an interesting and insightful look at the corrosive and corruptive nature of power; Clarke's alarming portrait of a sociopathic Kennedy ("sure it's sad she's dead, but I want to be president someday!") is exceptional, even engendering some sympathy for the bastard! Becomes ghoulishly and sardonically amusing in the second half, especially when Brown's McNamara turns into a cynical political fixer.

A good cast moves a long a sometimes bland historical biopic. It's not gonna blow your socks off, but it's interesting.

My gut tells me this movie just perpetuates the lies used to protect Ted Kennedy from the consequences of killing Mary Jo Kopechne. Whether by drunk driving or other evil doing it's obvious he was responsible and avoided prison by a rigged system that protects privileged rich people. Jason Clarke was almost as boring as Ted Kennedy himself.

There’s kind of a somnambulant quality to some of the filmmaking, a lack of urgency; I paused and dealt with other things a number of times during the film and didn’t feel like any momentum suffered. But the historical quality of it is interesting and indeed informative - for example, I’d never before known or thought about the relationship between the Kopechne incident and the Apollo 11 landing, separated by less than a week. It comes to an ending that has some solemn power to it.

t's amazing this film got made at all AND has an 80% R/T rating. But there's a huge unanswered question--How did Kennedy get out almost immediately (and can't remember doing it), but Mary Jo, who had to have been conscious, survived for 2 to 4 hours and couldn't get out? Which window or door did the diver find to be open?

It's not a bad movie. It's actually a quite competent movie. It does a pretty good job in showing how people in such cycles operate in such conditions. But in the end, nothing sparkles.

Her birinin hayatı filmlik. Gerçekleri izleyince beğeniyoruz. Nefret edici yanları da var. Filmin sonunda, ben masumum diye halka açıklama yapmış. Tanrı Kennedy lanetinden uzak tutsun.

It surprisingly loses a lot of tension about midway through. The build up is good and the accident itself is appropriately sad, but then we have to watch Kennedy aimlessly meander around without showing much if any regret, and even two scenes of out of shape men in their underwear just sitting on top of the car. Kopechne isn't given much screentime before her death and the movie never delivers on how tragic her loss was.

I really don't understand the point of making a movie about this story in 2018. How is it relevant? A summary of Ted's whole career would have perhaps been better. I guess it was well done fwiw.

This one didn't really deliver for me. Good performances but not enough to overcome just a dark and dismal story.

A somewhat well acted and well performed story. The problem with this movie is that the story is in no way a happy one. It's actually quite disturbing.
