Change of Heart

Feeling v generous here as its flaws stem from too rich a cast of characters & set of scenarios to keep comfortably under an hour the drama supporting them and Wheeler's fullhearted repurposing of Sirkian melodrama, elaborately choreographed camerawork, strong and complex heroines, reinvigoration of a tired region-specific working-class milieu through painstaking observation and exceptionally believable performances make her somehow at once Canada's Fassbinder and Leigh (dearth of peers, too)
