"Chandu the Magician" may have a laughable story, but they executed it with a captivating action and adventure style that you’ll be on the edge of your seat, eager to see what unfolds next. The film’s portrayal of the death ray is particularly memorable, showcasing a 1930s vision of futuristic technology that is both nostalgic and fascinating. Box OP Bela Lugosi.

A marvelous piece of nonsense! Edmund Lowe as the master of illusion! Making himself disappear, changing shotguns into snakes and giving Herbert Mundin a little drinking gnome! Full of adventure, weird happenings and madness. A guilty pleasure I don't feel guilty about liking! Bela Lugosi as Roxor the ultimate cartoon villain! Torturing Henry B. Walthall to make him reveal the secret of the DEATH RAY! Can Chandu stop him with his mind controlling powers?! How can one NOT love a story like that!?

Unintentionally campy and funny if you catch it in the right mood. There are some good atmospheric moments here and there, and Bela, as always, gives it absolutely everything he's got.
