Champagne for Caesar

Satire of the game-show industry: an unemployed scholar hopes to take the show's sponsor--an obnoxious soap tycoon--for all he's worth. In the lead, Ronald Colman is suave, likable, and entirely believable as an intellectual, and Vincent Price is great fun as his foil. The script is generally funny and on point--until the halfway mark, when a femme fatale (Celeste Holm) enters the scene; Holm is miscast in a badly-written role. Rough going at times, but keeps on chugging to the very end.

An utterly charming intellectual stupidity comedy totally commanded by Ronald Colman's gentle unshakable confidence. Was a complete joy to sit through!
