Chamber of Horrors

Not bad. A good premise and cast but doesn't manage to be very entertaining. The "fear flasher" gimmick serves to do nothing more than remind the viewer how un-scary the movie is.

Patrick O'Neal is fun to watch as he does his best Vincent Price impersonation.

Fun little thriller. It was originally a TV pilot before it was deemed 'too intense', and it shows in the film's languid pacing and blatant setup for more adventures. That combined with a number of cheap gimmicks ("The Horror Horn!") lighten the mood, but a good cast work together to make it stylish and even a little surprising. Gets my vote for the most random Tony Curtis cameo ever.

Starts off slow but eventually builds into an entertaining romp with an exceptional villain.

Obviously it's a little too early to really embrace the roots of slasher horror but it's a nice meld of it and those hammer style horror flicks. It's a lot of fun and has some good performances Tony Curtis! Buuut it lacks any bite.

Except for what happens to the killer half way through & his clever ultimate fate everything here is pretty predictable. The "warnings" of horror about to come is also incredibly silly & a detriment. The most interesting thing about it is that you can tell this was clearly meant to be a tv show at some point. Still, this hybrid is very well made for '66, both as tv show and horror movie w/ good performances & a very easy-on-the-eyes female lead so fans of old horror should like it well enough
