If you don't like The Rock, your heart is ten sizes too small. Paired with Hart (who I'm not big on when he's solo, and I can't even get through his stand-up) we get a wild on screen duo. Their genuine friendship frees them up to just be wild, loose, fast, hilarious. They are. Too. Damn. Good. Together. They elevated something that should have been as bad as that Ferrel/Riley Holmes flick into something I laughed my ass off for 90 straight minutes

I wanted to like this more than I ultimately did. I wanted to laugh MORE OFTEN. The laughs that I got were good ones, don't get me wrong, but I wanted them more frequently and it just didn't happen. As unfair a criticism as this probably is, the ending didn't make any sense to me in terms of Amy Ryan's character. Unfair in the sense that hey, it's a comedy, it doesn't always have to make sense, but it's also a spy movie, and like it or not, the who-what-when-where-why-how matters. Wasn't bad.

Went into this without knowing anything about it. I prefer Kevin Hart's stand-up comedy over his movies. Dwayne Johnson got unbearable for me a couple of times but him and Hart worked well together in the movie, which made it fairly average, somewhat entertaining comedy. Last act was totally dumb and there are some flaws. Some jokes miss completely while others were kinda funny. Worth watching if you like the leads.

Central Intelligence is surprisingly much more enjoyable than I expected. I've never particularly been a huge fan of either Dwayne Johnson or Kevin Hart's films, but in all fairness they are both likeable and fun actors. And even more so seeing the unlikely pair together here. When they are left to do their thing, the pair bounce off one another effortlessly and I laughed much more than I expected. But I zoned out of this film whenever the action or attempts at story telling took centre stage.

The action doesn't really work and brings the experience down but the rest of it was better than expected, mostly due to the chemistry of the Rock and Hart. I ended up laughing at jokes that I wouldn't normally laugh at because of them, and even though I've been harsh on the movies Hart has been in (but not him because I like him), he was used well. Funny stuff with some heart.

This isn't a lazy movie, and it's one that isn't even bad enough to recommend avoiding. It's forgettable and only really works when it gives its leads room to do their thing; when it tries to smother them with a plot, action, or tacked-on themes, it grinds to a halt and becomes a chore to watch. There are laughs - even a decent number of them at times - but they're mostly small chuckles, and there aren't enough of them to justify the 107-minute running time.

Surprisingly funny and tight. It never feels baggy or tired, and hits its admittedly predictable beats very well, even sometimes with some panache. Hart thankfully tones it all down a bit and is considerably less irritating than usual, and Dwayne clearly has fun with the role. Lightweight, but gets the job done.

This movie was very much the movie that was shown in the trailer but it works because of the chemistry between Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson. The story has some interesting aspects and the jokes are pretty good laughs. Johnson is the soul of this movie and it was good to see him take on something outside of his comfort zone. Hart fell in nicely but this was definitely Johnson's time to shine..

Actually a quite fun and enjoyable film with some good laughs. Kevin Hart's character is the standard Kevin Hart character - if you've seen Ride Along or Get Hard etc etc you've seen his performance - Dwayne Johnson however plays his endearingly insane role brilliantly. Worth a look if you like safe, solid genre comedy.

Funny but nothing special. Dwayne Johnson carries the movie and does a great job playing a crazy character. His character is also written very well to slowly let on the craziness. Kevin Hart plays the same character and to be honest his bit has gotten old at this point. Its the same thing in ever movie which makes the jokes predictable.

Your appreciation will depend on how much you like The Rock or Kevin Hart. The gags & their chemistry are good, and the high school flashbacks have a real sweetness and humanity as they deal with the bullying. The film also avoids being homophobic given the subject matter/setups. Still, I wanted a little more. The laughs slow a bit at the end and the spy action is kind of pedestrian. But we've been lacking quality buddy pictures for a while so this average one gets a marginal recommendation.

It's taking suspension of disbelief to a whole other level when a movie asks you to buy the Rock handily getting his ass kicked by 5'4" Aaron Paul. Also the climax is supposed to be this big cathartic upbeat celebration but all I kept thinking was "Jesus, Rock, at least put on some underpants." You can make it marginally more satisfying by imagining Jason Bateman's character as the same guy he played in THE GIFT. (Though that means Gordo would also have gone to this high school)

I found it jarringly cruel, glib and shallow. Most of the jokes were predictable, trite & didn't land, or just needlessly sadistic & judgy of outsiders. Surprising that a film with McCarthy, Bateman & the Rock can be this bad.

Who knew The Rock could impersonate Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze at the same time?! Admittedly he does not do it very well, but sufficiently well for me to form this impression of his performance. Most seem to dislike Hart's screaming antics in such films, but I like him even when he is hysterical (his snipe at Zuckerberg is very funny). It seems Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) has learned a lot of science science his 'Breaking Bad' days.

It's your standard comedy/action movie, in that order. The only special thing about it is the pairing of The Rock and Hart. I've never made it a secret that I think that The Rock is the coolest, most awesome movie star in the last twenty years, but I feel like the big lug just fits with Hart here. Silly action-comedy is elevated immensely by Johnson's completely beguiling, and very funny, comic performance and the unexpectedly perfect straight-man he finds in Hart's bumbling neurotic. It's a shame the screenplay can't rise to the talents of its performers, as contrived, illogical scenarios take over far too often and rob the gags of their oomph, eg. during Bateman's cameo (which should have been a slam-dunk).

You know CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE is in trouble when it becomes clear that the filmmakers are looking as far as RIDE ALONG for creative inspiration. A dull, predictable action comedy, the movie handicaps itself by withholding screentime from Dwayne Johnson's intriguing weirdo beefcake (his character's texts are peppered with gun and unicorn emojis) in what seems like a deliberate move to sabotage interest in the nonsensical plot, which comes off as the hottest spy caper of 2002.

Kinda boring to be honest. If I didn't like the 2 actors, I really wouldn't have bothered. It also features a fair few cameos but that doesn't even help this. The problem is the script, it tries too hard to try and trick you, that it just feel really uneven as a plot.
