"Center Stage" is an intimate look into the education of three young students, Jodie, Eva and Maureen, as they study at the American Ballet Academy. Life isn't what they expected at the esteemed ABC, and all three face problems along the road. Jodie doesn't have the "ideal" body for dancing, Eva doesn't have the right attitude, and Maureen doesn't have the heart. Along the way, they learn that love can be found in unlikely places, and dancing should be a passion, not a duty. (imdb)

You've got to hand it to Peter Gallagher's eyebrows. They're the most expressive thing in this movie.

If I did ballet, I think I would also be known as the bad boy of ballet. Like a real Bill Laimbeir out there.

One of the "benefits" of growing up with a slightly older sister is you get to watch movies like this, a film I'd never watch of my own volition.

Great dancing, especially by Radetsky, Soldana and Stiefel. Some scenes are well done, others less so. For what is more or less a formula film, the movie does offer a generally well-rounded depiction of the milieu.

I saw this at the cinema with my friend because we were not permitted (by the box office) to see 'Exit Wounds', the film we actually went to the cinema to see, because we were under 18 years of age. Better to see any film than no film at all. To our shock, not only did we not dislike like it, we quite enjoyed it (I've seen it a few times since).

I don't like ballet and I don't like coming of age movies. Was kind of doomed from the start. I'd imagine if I liked both it would have been a much higher rating.

A more pouty version of High School Musical, but with dancing. Ethan Stiefel alone earned this movie 40 points. You can clearly see that he is the only cast member who is a professional dancer. His performance was simply mesmerising. Having stupid good looks hurt him or the viewing experience neither.

I can watch anything about ballet such is my curiously random obsession of mine. Nothing here stands out besides Zoe Saldana's sass. Pass.

My fiancee, who did ballet for years, totally loves this movie and told me she's seen it fifty-plus times. I, on the other hand, who doesn't care about ballet, found it... fine. Some of the dance scenes were energetically filmed. Didn't give a good god damn about any of the romance, that's for sure.

Fame for ballerinas. The story is not that spectacular - usual teenage angsts and "Fame costs and here you start paying" type stuff - though not badly done. But some of the ballet scenes, even for a non-fan like me, were quite spectacular.

Yes, there's poor acting and a formulaic plot. But there's also really impressive ballet and it does a pretty good job for what it is. So, I can't deny that I have a soft spot for it in my heart.

Routine backstage soaper. Lots of Broadway pedigree behind the scenes, including choreography by Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman, but this plays like "Dawson's Creek" in Capezios. Only a couple of the dance set-pieces really fly.

Plot? Not much to speak of in this dance drama since we're all waiting for the big dance recital at the end, which pretty much works.
