Stylization of the video nasty era is cool, with some beautifully put together homages to giallo, exploitation horror and 80s gore -- the thing with the ratio aspect in the climax is nicely thought, despite not bringing much to the table --, but I guess I wanted more of the Cigarette Burns, weird, explicit grindhouse potential it flirts with and less of the sister's mysterous disappearance that unfolds perhaps in too familiar fashion. Algar is just awesome.

I rather enjoyed this. I felt there were some aesthetic and thematic parallels with Berberian Sound Studio; I really liked the styling of each film. Algar was great in the lead and handled the various aspects of her character most effectively. This was quite creepy and unsettling, and made good use of the video nasty moral panic as a background. A couple of touches felt underdeveloped and ambiguous, but this was another fine example of an imaginative modern horror film. Worth a look.

Anyone who loves film and genre film is going to be tickled at the concept of Censor. Putting the 'Video Nasty' censoring program of the 80s and 90s into your horror film is a great idea. While it may not come all together in the most satisfying manor, I had a good time and the film looks great.

I hated back in the 80s when it would be neon pink out. My grandparents were on a film ratings board and got to see some wild stuff, but nothing like this happened to them that I know of Went on a video nasty hunt awhile back and watched some absolute nonsense but it led me to discovering Possesion so thank you cry baby British people oi this movie is too spooky

A nice companion piece to Berber Sound Studio and Antrum. It doesn't do anything dramatically novel, but it still is a very tight piece of meta-horror that is just a fun, compelling watch. Great soundtrack, too!

Cool concept, well executed. Great lead performance. Really brought back memories of the old days of horror movies feeling like truly dangerous contraband. Used to see a little screenshot of a banned movie in a UK magazine and it was more powerful than the inevitable hokey movie could ever be. Excellent at quickly and subtly getting its themes and concepts across as well.

It's got its moments and it definitely gets better and creepier towards the very end, but it takes way too much time to get there. Despite that, I give it a lot of credit for simply looking awesome. Loved the 80's moods and the colors and lighting in this one.

I had a really witty remark about Niamh Algar but my wife won't let me post it here.

Well, that was pretty neat. Eerie and captivating, especially niamh algar's performance and...unusual looks. It doesn't hand things on a silver plate, but it's not that hard to decipher, either. Luckily, the human mind can be a censor, too. But the original cut might just be waiting to reappear. Nice debut, prano.

its a unique horror among all the same modern horror they produce now and it has a retro feel to it but it will make no sense for ones who dont get it at the end of it also its meaningful and lets you do the guessing rather than explaining it

Frustrating horror effort manages to build an atmosphere of unease in its opening passages, and as a loving tribute to 80s slasher horror incorporating story elements and design of the “classics” of the era, it is fun for a while. By the mid-point, the underdeveloped screenplay becomes irritating, as intriguing story threads are completely discarded in favour of an opaque journey through Algar’s obsessive mind which dominates the narrative. A superficially stylish effort, but lacking substance.

Hey, it's the Evil Ed remake we never knew we wanted! Censor does a lot of things right in its use of video nasties and Thatcher-era paranoia, and I love the concept of censorship paired with refusing to look at things we can't bear... but the script feels undercooked; at just over 80 minutes it could have given us more than just vague flashbacks and fill-in-the-blanks to work with.

It's not a bad movie, but there's nothing in it to make it stand out. Some parts of the plot never quite make sense, but it's short and entertaining enough.

RTÜK'te çalışan güzel kızımız, korku ve cinsellik içeren filmlerin kontrolünü yapmaktadır. 1 filmde, kaybolan kız kardeşinin anıları olduğunu görür. Korku filmleriyle eleştiri yapan film, seyircilerin sinirlerini de bozmayı biliyor. Niamh Algar'ın harika oynadığı film, Kubrick'ten Lynch'in filmlerine de gönderme yapıyor. Filmin sonunda, kızımız aklını kaybediyor. Aklını alırım senin aklını.

Of course it has to end up actually being about ~trauma~ but its an interesting idea and it at least has a pretty decent look to it. Saw a scene from Driller Killer in it and thought this movie could use a bit more nastiness in it all things considered.

Great premise and it has a vibe similar to Bandersnatch, but it doesn't come together in a compelling way in the end. The main thing is I just didn't really care that much about the central mystery of the sister's disappearance.
