Frank W. Abagnale (DiCaprio) worked as a doctor, a lawyer and as a co-pilot for a major airline -- all before his 21st birthday. A master of deception, he was also a brilliant forger, whose skill at check fraud had netted him millions of dollars in stolen funds. FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Hanks) has made it his prime mission to capture Frank and bring him to justice, but Frank is always one step ahead of him, baiting him to continue the chase. (DreamWorks)

I feel like if any other director made this film, we'd trip over ourselves to gush about it, but because it's Spielbreg, it's taken for granted (and just as often not given enough credit to begin with) how ably he moves between humor and pathos, how organically he plays on themes of fathers-and-sons and the fear of growing up, how airtight and sensationally entertaining the entire film is from minute one. What a masterpiece.

I'm not sure what attracted all these stars to this project, but they've really made a special movie out of a thin script. It's pure entertainment, relying on DiCaprio's charms to carry the bulk of the picture, and he sells it all the way. Hanks is good as the foil, and their cat-and-mouse chase is engaging fun. The supporting cast is peppered with familiar faces, and Kaminski's photography lends the movie an old-time feel that adds to the movie's charm. It's not essential, but it's damn good.

Slick film, highly underrated. DiCaprio normally annoys me, but here he is quite good. Tom Hanks is fantastic, as always. I disagree with the notion that Spielberg is in a slump. He does a wonderful job with theis film. The art direction is fantastic in this movie as well.

This is when DiCaprio started his career as one of the greatest actors of our generation. DiCaprio is flawless in this, as well as Tom Hanks. This is one of the best examples of a Cat and Mouse film. Depending on what side of the spectrum your on, you will be pulled into the characters and be forced to cheer for someone. Spielberg does a great job, but at some parts, this film felt rather dull.

While not as funny or as clever as the filmmakers clearly intended, this is at least watchable. The usual Spielberg symptoms are present, but in this case the disease expresses itself with a lesser degree of virulence.

A lively and light drama (by Spielberg standards) that features a very charismatic lead turn by Leonardo DiCaprio. And it features a stunning Jennifer Garner in a sultry cameo performance ( as Alias fans know, the girl can do anything).

Steven Spielberg-lite; a dashing Leo DiCaprio portraying crook Frank Abagnale being pursued by Tom Hanks as an FBI agent. Movies don't get much more laid-back, nor quite as fun. Christopher Walken owns every scene- very entertaining film.

An utterly enjoyable mix of a criminal/cop chase, the adventurous exploits of an interesting man, and a compelling human drama. The close moments between Carl and Frank are wonderful, especially the Christmas scenes. The only complaint I have is that it could have wrapped up a bit quicker.

Great movie with an engrossing story made all the more gripping because it is true! You will not believe what this teenager was able to pull off! DiCaprio and Hanks are great. Drama, humor, suspense, sadness... A good all-around film.

Two little Criticker users fell into writer's block while composing their reviews. The first user quickly gave up, assigned the movie a score without making any sort of insightful comment and moved on. But the second user, he struggled so hard that he eventually cranked out a star-worthy review. Amen.

Catch me if you Can is a charming and a throughly enjoyable piece of filmmaking from Steven Spielberg. This film strikes just the right balance of a compelling crime drama but with the perfect dosage of light hearted humour and dramatic thrills. The characters are incredibly likeable also and Leonardo DiCaprio gives one of his best performances whilst Tom Hanks is both impressive and effortless as always. Together they bring real chemistry and charm to what is a refreshing gem from Spielberg.

Yes, it's a supremely fun (and perfectly directed) cat-and-mouse crime caper (Frank's slick cons-see especially his original confrontation with Carl-are complimented by his less-than-perfect attempts-"The dog was dead"-and Hanks' charmingly no-nonsense FBI agent-"Go fuck yourself"), but two excellent character dynamics wonderfully acted (see lonely Jr. trying to please the stubbornly proud Sr.; Carl with a soft spot for Frank-see after his arrest: "Don't worry, Frank!" ) make it so much more.

Above all else, it's just really fun to watch. The acting from DiCaprio and Hanks is great, and Spielberg gives them plenty of room to stretch their legs. They're both funny, but almost tragic. The music and cinematography are both pretty good too, but it's really the dynamic between the main characters that drives this movie.

I have tried to watch this film twice and failed to finish it on both occasions which is the first time I think I can say that about any movie. It's hard to even explain why this film just doesn't hold my interest. It's undeniably well made but I think it's just that I don't like and therefore don't care about the characters which may also explain why the humour around them also falls flat for me. It's a strange one as it feels like the story should interest me more than it does in this movie.

I don't think this is among Spielberg's very best films (although I think it's top 10 at least), but it's one of his that I find endlessly enjoyable and rewatchable. There's a seemingly effortless charm to it, both in the performances and Spielberg's uncharacteristically light style. It gestures at bigger themes, but it's real appeal is watching DiCaprio dance his way through a series of implausible cons.

DiCaprio as good as always and I think this role perfectly suits Tom Hanks' combination of great acting chops and near total lack of movie star cool or elan. Hanks as the determined, by the book, tenacious older professional constantly embarrassed by DiCaprio as the brash, brilliant young prodigy is a perfect bit of casting.

There's really no one I wouldn't recommend CATCH ME IF YOU CAN to, as it is breezy, well-made escapism, and you'll probably have a good time watching it. Spielberg subdues his style, letting the characters drive the story, and the outlandish events provide their own entertainment.

This is a highly engaging film. Abagnale stole the equivalent of over $25 million today, so to go uncaught for as long as he did, at the age of seventeen, is a hell of a story. DiCaprio fills the shoes well, and Tom Hanks plays his role very convincingly. Definitely worth seeing.

Some of the story felt a little farfetched. I know it is based on a true story, but that term can be used loosely. DiCaprio excelled in the lead role. I am starting to come around on him being a good actor and not just someone all the girls swoon over. Hanks is perfect for his role. I enjoyed his knock knock joke. And even though it was a smaller role Walken deserves a mention for his part, too. Good show, just can we get it down to about 2hrs.
