Cat City

The animation is interesting as is the plot, but it's still pretty standard fare. Feels very much like a good extended saturday morning cartoon from the 80's with a little more creativity.

Maybe I'd appreciate this more if I spoke Hungarian since it seems there was perhaps a lot lost in translation but this was just boring? The movie is mostly flat cartoon archetypes with the most mundane jokes imaginable. The plot has a lot going on but it's not cohesively connected neither thematically nor narratively so often times there'll be certain plot beats the movie tosses in that I'm utterly baffled over but ends up not actually being important anyway, notably the Japan trip.

2016-11-07 it probably was a top film when it came out, but couldn't entertain me now.

Em honra do centenário de Jimmy Giuffre. Pelo que li por aí me senti como os gringos tentando entender cinema marginal brasileiro, fora do Brasil ninguém entende, aparentemente acontece o mesmo com esse filme em relação à Hungria. Li que é lotado de trocadilhos impossíveis de traduzir e que as minhas legendas em inglês deixaram de fora, por isso não achei lá essas coisas, além das referências visuais mais claras a filmes e desenhos do deste lado do ocidente.
