Castle of Blood

If you removed all the scenes of people slowly wandering through dark hallways, this movie would be about 12 minutes long.

The type of movie I would display in October like an art piece in a museum. Hanging on the wall, playing on repeat in the background for any to encounter and affect. The moody atmosphere it presents in castle halls and tragic apparitions able to be absorbed in moments, adding to an aesthetic that harkens witches, demons and all that is macabre. Hot damn, I'm excited for October now.

I wanted to like this more than I did. It's a well shot creepy film with a simple but compelling premise, but it's stuck spinning its wheels much of the time.

if you've seen 1 haunted house movie from the 60s you've pretty much seen them all. however, that doesn't mean you should stop at 1 because castle of blood proves that although there's a strict formula of setup, scares, and pacing, you can still have an enjoyable 90 mintues with most of them.

Some nice cinematography helps keep a relatively bland story watchable. Not a terrible film, but a bland one.

A night-in-a-haunted-house flick shot with earnestly creepy flair, featuring the sepulchrally seductive Steele in the lead.

Slow but atmospheric and romantic. Helped by an effective soundtrack.
