A man named KIM jumps into the dark, quiet waters of the Han River. He wakes up and finds himself lying on strange ground, covered with sand. For a second, he thinks he is in heaven, but soon recognizes that he simply drifted to a nameless island in the river. In one of the riverside apartment buildings, there's a girl who hasn't ventured out of her room for years. With her dishevelled hair and in the same old clothes she's worn for years, she looks just like a castaway... (www.avistaz.com)

I was caught completely off guard by how good this was...it reminded me of a darker version of Amelie, but with less romance and more human observation. Very funny in parts, with emotionally engaging performances from the two lead actors.

who needs a non-cliche ending when black bean noodles can be so moving

Not much to say that hasn't been said. A great film, and if you give it a try you won't regret it for a second. Everything holds an extremely high standard all across the board. More South Korean cinema please.

A much wider-reaching film than you would expect, given its sharp narrative focus. The parallels between the two Kim's lives are explored really well. Quite funny too. While one Kim struggles through humanity's past development towards the achievements of modern life (black bean noodles), the other wrestles with the tech and ease of modern fantasy she has completely replaced life with. (Life overlooked is life unlived?) The ending is too dragged out and cliched, unfortunately.

if the cinematography was more emphasised then it would be my 2nd favourite film ever. it nails everything, its hard to describe it, yet you understand the film so well. And to add to that, as you watch your placed in a imagination land and only when( i guess yoh could say the fourth wall is breaking) do you stand up and realise, if it wasnt for the film shot this way, i would never think if the story this way

I like the way of connecting male and female Kim. It's so simple storytelling and interestingly amazing.

Another inventively oddball romance from South Korea. Sure, it's a bit cheesy but given the premise it's much better than I was expecting, and pulls off what it was trying to achieve rather well, mostly thanks to Jeong Jae-yeong's very watchable performance.

Everything that unfolds is fascinating to watch. It's such a great character study about outsiders. The two lead characters were so well-written and performed, and really relatable, too. The whole screenplay is brilliant, really. It's funny, heartwarming, sad, and just a great film, overall. I highly recommend it to everyone.

An optimistic film released right on time to raise morale during financial crisis. There is quite a bit of Frank Capra in the way how financial worries and romantic comedy finds the way to co-exist in the same movie. Good movie, but way too 'Korean sweet' (if you have seen enough Korean films you will know what I mean).

A couple of scenes (~10 min of footage) should have been cut, but apart from that, this is perfect.

This had all the ingredients for the kind of "whimsical" film I normally hate. But the result was truly something special. One of the best, funniest, and most touching movies I've seen in a very long time.

Funny, earnest, relatable, literally me - and all beautifully presented through creative and polished filmmaking. It hits on a lot of varying themes, from loneliness to self-sufficiency in nature and reconstructing yourself. The cinematography is class, and informs the story. Creative and original storytelling, built around an equally original story concept. Great characters, great actors. Honestly this film is highly recommended for when you want something a little lighthearted yet deep.

A sweet and quirky movie about the redeeming power of love for lost lonely souls. Surprising how quickly this succeeded in suspending my disbelief about a guy being stranded in a deserted island in the middle of Seoul.

"oh come on, cheer up man, your noodles can't be *that* bad" the characteristic south korean fun/light tone didn't piss me off in this like it does in other korean movies

This was a really really good movie. It's very funny but it's not really a comedy. I did find it to be a little too long but it didn't drag or get boring. The two leads were great and portrayed their characters in a believable manner.

Gritless, unbearably cutesy arthouse slog with cringeworthy humor, strictly for those viewers whose ideal films are criminal offences like Amelie, Little Miss Sunshine or Intouchables

A korean amalgam of Cast Away and Amelie, indeed, but it puts its own spin on it and turns it into something new and fresh.

Was thoroughly disappointed with this quirky romantic tale of disillusionment and paranoia. Reminded me of Amelie, which I cannot abide.
