The stooges find a crippled boy and his sister living in their dumpyard shack. To raise money to pay for the little boys operation they buy a phony treasure map from a con man. Thinking the treasure is buried beneath an old house, the boys start digging and wind up in a US treasury vault where they are promptly arrested. The president (FDR) gives them amnesty and arranges for the boy's operation. (imdb)

The stooges are nice guys in this, this is not great stuff but the atypical actions of the stooges is a welcome change. This also shows that they could be just as funny with a lot less violence.

Tons of Depression-era references in this one! Curly wreaks even more than the usual havoc with a building, disturbing supporting walls and the like, while Moe takes a good deal more guff than average from his colleagues. And speaking of Deals, the meeting with FDR at the end was a nice touch, and conveys well the general feeling the Prez elicited at the time. Not to make this short sound like a term paper or anything; what it mainly was was a lot of Stooges fun. :)
