Well, apparently someone wanted a musical Pepe Le Moko and thought smooth singing Tony Martin was a good choice, but I don't know. There were several more interesting characters than Martin involved. Peter Lorre, Yvonne De Carlo & Märta Torén, Eartha Kitt and others. Felt like they were all there to hold him up, knowing he wasn't a strong enough actor to carry such a heavy drama. And even with that, Martin was the weak point to this exotic crime drama.
