Not exactly Canada I think of when it comes to silent cinema, but Carry on, Sergeant! (1928) is a pleasing World War 1 drama! The story could have been better focused, but there was something about the economic way they filmed the battlefield which impressed me. There was something Chaplinesque about the comic relief as well. Other then that the film has a lot in common with the other war films that was made toward the end of the silent era and early sound.
