Almost needed the fast forward button to carry me to the ending but I hanged in there. Australia can’t have anything happen without everyone going Mad Max almost immediately.

Finally, I got to experience first hand the awful original content Netflix spews out of its butthole on a regular basis. Starring Martin Freeman as a legally binding agreement, Cargo is an amateurish and painfully bland, pseudo zombie movie that somehow got past Mark Kermode's bullshit detector. Ted Sarandos can go suck a dick, if he isn't already.

The modern zombie movie as an Ozploitational throw-back is generously flavoured with Aboriginal mysticism; the unique quality of the milieu, and captivating outback scenery, almost helps you forget that there's nothing really new in the storytelling. Freeman is the best thing about this, delivering a solid, forceful and empathetic dramatic performance, and McQuade has a lovely cameo in an establishing scene.

The portion of this movie taken from the short it was based on (of the same name) is actually shorter than the short itself. You'd have to be a science person or something to explain how that's even possible, and I'm not so I won't. I suppose if you ever wondered what it would be like to watch Cumberbatch's Watson sweat profusely while looking nauseated as he walked around the Australian outback, then this will tick all your boxes and then some.

Kept expecting Paul Hogan to pop up and reveal that this is Crocodile Dundee IV - Dundee Of The Dead. That would have been an improvement on this drudgery.

The setup of "Cargo" is a little different than your typical zombie movie. The main character here is not trying to survive an epidemic, his time is numbered, but he's trying to find someone somewhere safe to take care of his infant daughter before his time is up. There are a couple rather interesting parts, and the Australian setting is a little novel for a zombie flick, but all told, this one lands slightly, but concretely above average, nothing more.

I'm sick and tired of zombie movies. Lack of inspiration and imagination I guess. Not so much a Netflix original as just another movie money grab. This one at least attempts to tell a worthwhile story of parental love and self sacrifice, but no amount of tugging on heart strings can overcome the fatally flawed and worn out premise. I liked Martin Freeman in this, but the zombie movies theme is played out.

After a very promising start that excellently establishes this post-outbreak world through some well placed scares and tension-building, Cargo drifts into aimlessness and over-seriousness. The baby is used as a plot-point rather than a character (to even more of a degree than in A Quiet Place), alleviating plenty of tension and emotion. The ending denouement is worth watching for how "dramatic" it's supposed to be (cue slo-mo and maudlin music) when it's closer to unintentionally hilarious.

Y'know, I really liked this. To be fair, I don't really get tired of the zombie genre, so my opinion of it gets a little boost there, as well as from being set in Australia, which is, to the best of my knowledge, unique. It does have a BIT of a slow start, but I enjoyed the story and felt that the end was very rewarding.

Well, quite forgettable. A tries to say a few things but it is not that great at doing it. Very mediocre despite of Freeman. What it tries to say about Australia's past is also not that greatly made a point.

It could have been a 90/100. But no. The entire plot revolves around a dumb mistake of one character. Cliché. The rest of the movie is fine. There are the right tension and suspance. Good movie.

An emotionally touching zombie-flick. Who would have thought that? More reviews here : http://movie-freak.be

This is what you get when you take a 20 minute short film and stretch it out to 90 minutes. It's ok, but in the end it will become just another movie that I won't remember in a few years. Either be awesome or be terrible, nobody remembers or cares about mediocre.

Lumbering, painfully slow, and uninteresting. Not a thriller in any sense of the word.

A dull snooze fest with no tension or threat. Jumped around plot lines and characters that you had no time to connect with and that made the subplots feel pointless. Martin Freeman acted decently but couldn't make up for the poor writing and his character, along with others, seemed determined to make the stupidest decisions. Some lack of attention to detail too (like when Rosie managed to teleport the watch in and out of her hands at will). Go and try the short instead but avoid this film.

A sad, quiet, slow little movie that doesn't pull punches. There is plenty to admire, although I will probably never want to rewatch it.

Actually though it was way too slow paced and having less action, I liked the premise. That is the apocalyptic movie as it should be. Of course I wouldn't mind for more active plot. Well achieved mood.

Way too slow paced for its own good, it's almost saved by an inspired final fifteen minutes. Almost.
