2020 Re-Watch: The times may have changed, but the song remains the same! This film is just as poor as when I saw it in theatres at age 13, and again when I re-watched it 15 years ago. The one great constant that will never change, is the goddess that is, young Jennifer Connelly! My first celebrity crush since seeing Labyrinth in 1986, which hasn't changed still to this day, as she's about to hit 50! It's impossible to take my eyes off of her the entire film. New film title: "Male Gaze"

JenniferConnelly.gif isn't going to overcome an annoying main character or a senseless plot. I agree with Ytadel that there's some pointless Home Alone clone tacked on. The scene transitions are awkward and disconnected. The sideplot of the dads is a waste of time. Superstore did a better stuck-in-the-store-after-hours. Did Target pay for product placement? Were they supposed to be in Minnesota but referencing St. Louis? Fav scenes: pick any male gaze shot, but especially when she's in on it.

OK so Connelly is hot and the movie is kind of fun in a cheesy sort of way, but that doesn't redeem the fact that most of it is tedious and not that good.

Pretty annoying main character, on which I blame both the writing and the actor in fairly equal measure. The idea to do a two-hander “conversation movie” set in a store after dark is a good one; the idea to stick two robbers into that movie and do some third-rate Home Alone shit in the last twenty minutes is not. Insert generic closing thought on attractiveness of 20-year-old J-Conns.

Damn, have to add Jennifer Connelly to my list of perfect dream girls. Frank Whaley was surprisingly charismatic. The sexual tension was extremely palpable without ever being too overt or raunchy. Very fun and enjoyable film up until the very end. The final conclusion was just a little lackluster after all the build up.

Typical post 80's John Hughes rom com shit. For the extremely bored or date nights. Ps: Jennifer Connelly is GODLY in this. Her best looking movie ever.

Great cast, Jennifer Connelly was especially good (it didn't hurt that she's smoking hot). Too many montages though, one can only hear so many bland mall rock tunes in a day. Way too many montages. For every minute of actual plot, there was ten minutes of roller skating and goofing off in mime. Not enough movie to recommend, but the cast really was excellent.

A romantic comedy that for a reason I can't articulate, is highly watchable.

This film works for me purely because I can perfectly imagine myself awkward crushing on Jennifer Connoly('s character). The store robber arc was goofy and totally not necessary for me though; they had a good thing going in just showing these tweens vibe with each other.

The story could have been fixed towards the end, but very cool sequences. It was funny and the acting was good. I would have preferred a more modern soundtrack which is why i watched this film, i saw a song video and this was cut in it. Mr kitty after dark it was

An awful unlikable lead and nothing that gets set up is resolved, the movie just ends. But then again there's Jennifer Connelly. She's a fox. In French she would be called "la renarde" and she would be hunted, with only her cunning to protect her.

This plays a lot like a John Hughes Greatest Hits album, as if he wanted to take all of his previous films and mash them into one. Frank Whaley plays Ferris Bueller Lite, the conversation scenes are very Breakfast Club esque, & then the entire third act is basically Home Alone but with "adults" and actual murderers instead of a ten year old and a couple goons. And that shouldn't work. At times, it doesn't. But honestly, I really liked this even in its clunkier moments. Nice John Candy cameo.

Frank Whaley is wildly underrated. This isn't a great film, but it's great for what it sets out to accomplish. Nothing life-changing, but still a fun, well-written, well-acted film.

Quirky romantic comedy. Loved the small cameo by John Candy. Frank Whaley impressed by basically carrying the entire movie, with a unique and likeable character.

Not a bad set up but falls apart in the ridiculous second half. Worth watching if only for Jennifer Connelly

The first third reeks of 1983, the middle third is pretty fun, and the final third is ridiculous.

It was kind of funny, with a pretty decent cast as well. Jennifer Connelly... wow! Kind of a fun movie to watch with a bunch of people, otherwise there was nothing that really stood out or made this movie special.

A movie with the signing of the producer and director, creative and irreverent John Hughes, known for its Cheesy classics of the 80s. Frank Whaley is funny, sometimes in the plot, in partnership with the beautiful and young Jennifer Connely. Not a great movie, unimportant, but it may be nice.

TV aberta.
