Captured!

Leslie Howard was good but everything else was fairly mediocre and the fact that all the other characters were one-dimensional didn't help matters.

This is an odd little war film. It's kind of like a second-rate version of "Grand Illusion" that manages to center the story on a love triangle. Howard and Lukas are great, but Fairbanks is a little out of his depth here, and the rest of the film's characters are really broad caricatures that nobody can do much of anything with.

I'm probably just a sucker for WWI films (and love triangles (and especially the two combined)), but this really got me.

A bit uneven, but the whole war atmosphere makes it a a strong film in periods. More for the production side of things then any performance. Solid acting of course with the likes of Leslie Howard, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Paul Lukas and Margaret Lindsay on the list, but nothing that'll be considered remarkable. What's interesting is how life is at the camp, both the claustrophobia and the gentlemanly tone between the enemies of war.
